City Manager implements new core values

City Manager Jacob Foos has announced the implementation of a new set of core values designed to guide employee behavior, enhance public trust, and ensure exceptional service delivery for the City of Eufaula.

These values include Accountability, Community, and Excellence, or ACE.

“They are more than just words, they are a call to action for every city employee to prioritize customer service, foster a culture of respect and responsiveness, and pursue continuous improvement,” Foos said.

Branded under the slogan “Together, we will ACE the City of Eufaula’s Core Values,” the initiative sets the tone for a renewed commitment to public service:

• A – Accountability: We are honest and responsible in everything we do. We keep our promises, admit mistakes, and make decisions that serve the public’s best interest.

• C – Community: We put people first. We listen to our residents, value their input, and work to make our city a welcoming and inclusive place for everyone.

• E – Excellence: We aim high and take pride in our work. We look for better ways to serve, solve problems, and make our community stronger.

“At the heart of every successful city is a workforce dedicated to serving the public with integrity, empathy, and professionalism,” said Foos. “These core values will guide our daily operations and interactions, ensuring that customer service remains a top priority in every department.

“Whether you’re visiting City Hall, calling about a utility issue, or applying for a permit, you can expect to be treated with courtesy, care, and competence.”

As part of this initiative, Foos is rolling out a tentative action plan to reinforce these values across the organization.

This includes regular staff training, performance benchmarks tied to service standards, and feedback opportunities for residents.

Departments will receive tailored support to align internal practices with the ACE values and will be encouraged to innovate and collaborate for better service outcomes.

Mayor James Hickman praised the new direction.

“This is a great step forward for the City of Eufaula,” he said. “These values reflect what our community expects and deserves: accountability, a strong sense of community, and a commitment to excellence. I’m proud of our City Manager and staff for making customer service a top priority.”

With the implementation of the ACE Core Values, Eufaula takes a significant step forward in building a responsive, people-centered government that delivers results.

The city invites residents to engage with staff, share feedback, and join in the ongoing effort to create a better Eufaula for all.
