Golden Eagle Poker Run makes a splash despite stormy weather

Rain or shine—nothing could stop the 2025 Golden Eagle Poker Run from being one of the most exciting and memorable events on Lake Eufaula! Despite a surprise storm that soaked participants and volunteers alike, spirits stayed high and the turnout was fantastic.

Costume Contest (Pirates & Parrots Theme – Sponsored by Hull’s Boat Lift and Dock): We had an amazing turnout with 23 entries showing off their swashbuckling best!

• 1st Place – #122 Jeremy Hudson blew the judges away with a working cannon that actually fired and smoked! ($500 prize)

• 2nd Place – #25 Roy McFarland of Forney, TX showed off pirate pride and earned $300.

• 3rd Place – Jacqueline Stubblefield of Eufaula dazzled her way to $200.

• Fourth Place – Jen Jackson of Chandler, $1,336.

• Fifth Pace – Charlotte Nichols of Moore, $693.

• 50/50RaffleWinner – Kelcy Gatlin of Midwest City won $2,260.

$2,500 in Mystery Cash was awarded thanks to our generous sponsors: Bee Well Family Health Care, First Family Federal Credit Union, Rusty Hook, Parker Brothers Roofing, Artesian Realty, and Trust-Mark Title.

Special thanks to Kenzie and Zoey for stuffing all the t-shirts and preparing swag bags with care!

Big thanks to Southern Sounds for spinning great tunes and keeping the party going once the skies cleared.

Card Stops & Volunteers:

Thank you to our incredible host Nine Marina and all the participating card stops: Fountainhead Marina, Belle Starr Marina, Xtreme Cove Marina, Sammy’s Surf Shop, Evergreen Marina, and Nine Marina.

We couldn’t have done it without our allstar volunteer team: Connie Campbell and crew, Rachel Jones, Janice Williams, Monty Grider, Stephanie & Norma Cellers, Lori Fells, the crew at Sammy’s Surf Shop, Jason Burns, Patricia Smith, Donna Briggs, Brandi Creekmore,AmiAdams, Deana Farrow, Glenda Slusser, and Marty Farrow for his outstanding efforts in security.

Shoutout to Dustin Blurton & Kelly Blurton for assisting with reading cards at checkin, and to the Pride of Eufaula Band members for helping with setup and clean-up—we appreciate your time and community spirit!

Thank you to Michael Pendley of Vantage Point Videography for capturing the day with incredible Facebook Live coverage and drone footage.

Our awesome tshirts were made possible by Lake & Bake and Muscogee Creek Nation Casino— thank you!

Even with soggy clothes and wet decks, the Golden Eagle Poker Run was a resounding success. Laughter, prizes, camaraderie, and adventure made it a day to remember.

Here’s to next year— sunny skies or not, we’ll be ready to hit the water!
