The Muscogee Creek Nation (MCN) continues to invest in the health and quality of life of Oklahoma’s youth by conducting All-Sports camps throughout eastern Oklahoma. This year completes 15 years of conducting the All-Sports Camps L6TD promoting the development of skills for speed, quickness, agility and balance in young athletes.
2017 was the first year MCN held three camps – Bristow, Eufaula and Okmulgee.
The All-Sports Camps promotes the development of skills for speed, quickness, agility and balance. Sandra Golding of MCN helped to organize each camp every year with the coaches including Thursday’s event.
The number of camps has grown each year with eight camps going to Haskell, Eufaula, Okemah, Kellyville and Weleetka High Schools.
“If every camper can leave camp having learned one thing that they can work on by themselves, then L6TD has been successful. As an athlete sooner or later you will need to get better on your own,” Head coach Thomas Lott said.
The camps are conducted by some of sports’ greatest athletes such as Thomas Lott, who played quarterback at the University of Oklahoma when Billy Sims won the Heisman, is the coordinator of the coaching staff. Thomas also played in the NFL with the Cardinals.
Members of the coaching staff have included other notable players like Tony Peters, who won a national championship at the University of Oklahoma and played 10 years in the NFL with the Washington Redskins and won a Super Bowl in 1982, also coached these campers.
Each of these coaches came together on behalf of our youth. The coaches share their wealth of knowledge and experience with many oneto- one activities during the one-day camp. For the student participants, it is an awesome learning experience. The key players for this event have been the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. Chief David Hill and the National Council are committed to serving all citizens, especially the youth.
