Two people from Marshall, Texas were killed, and four others were injured in a harrowing four-vehicle pileup on U.S. 69 half a mile south of the Muskogee City Limits at about 2:20 p.m. on Monday, June 2.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Eric Guvernator, 66, and Mary Guvernator, 63, occupants of a 2024 Toyota Rav4, died at the scene a half mile south of West Hancock St.

Eric Guvernator was the driver of the vehicle, investigators said.

Vehicles and persons involved in the spectacular crashes included: – a 2005 Jeep Laredo, driven by Samuel Carter, 25, of Wagoner, who was admitted to Saint Francis Hospital in Muskogee in good condition with leg, trunk internal and arm injuries.

– a 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche, driven by David Abner, 56, of Kansas City, Mo., who was not injured. Two passengers in the vehicle, Ursula Hurt, 55, and Finley Love, 76, both of Kansas City, also were not injured.

– a 2008 Toyota Scion XB, driven by Steven Shreder, 68, of Tulsa, who was admitted to St. John Hospital in Tulsa in good condition with leg injuries. Passenger Sandra Shreder, 75, of Tulsa was also admitted to St. John and a five-monthold child from Tulsa was taken to Saint Francis Children’s Hospital in good condition with trunk external injuries.

According to the OHP report, the Jeep and the Chevrolet were northbound in the outside lane of U.S. 69 and the Toyota Rav4 and Toyota Scion were southbound.

The Jeep and the Chevrolet collided and the Jeep left the roadway and went through the center median.

The Jeep then collided with the Toyota Rav4 in the southbound inside lane and then collided with the Toyota Scion.

The cause of the collision that precipitated the chain of events is under investigation.
