Sooners smash Alabama to punch ninth straight ticket to World Series
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR,

The Oklahoma Sooners are storming back to the Women’s College World Series (WCWS) and they did it with a thunderous third-inning rally that left Alabama reeling.

With two runners on and the crowd of 4,564 roaring at Love’s Field, Ella Parker stepped up and delivered the knockout blow, a scorching two-RBI double just fair down the first base line, capping off an eight-run inning and giving OU its 10th hit of the game.

From there, it was all crimson and cream. The No. 2-seeded Sooners run-ruled No. 15 Alabama 13-2 in just five innings Saturday, clinching their ninth consecutive WCWS appearance and 18th overall. OU has now rattled off an eye-popping 18 straight Super Regional wins.

This dominant series saw Oklahoma blank Alabama 3-0 in game one behind Sam Landry’s sixth shutout of the year. With Saturday’s offensive eruption (14 hits, four home runs) the Sooners pushed their season record to 50-7, marking an incredible ninth straight 50-win season.

On the mound, Kierston Deal held Alabama in check over four innings with four strikeouts, before Audrey Lowry came in to slam the door in the fifth.

The Sooners are on a mission and Oklahoma fans know one thing, this team is far from finished.

The 2025 NCAA Softball Tournament is now set as the finale of the Super Regionals. Eight teams will now head to Devon Park in Oklahoma City to decide the National Champion. The tournament features a double- elimination format, with the last two teams meeting for a best-ofthree WCWS championship series beginning on June 4.

Four SEC teams will join Oklahoma in the WCWS. That includes Florida, Tennessee, Texas and Ole Miss. The Big Ten will have both Oregon and UCLA, formally in the Pac-12. For the first time, Texas Tech, led by last year’s Player of the Year and Stanford star NiJareee Canady of the Big 12 will battle it out in the tournament. It’s also OleMiss’ first appearance.

Here’s the list of the teams that made the tournament and how they got there: No. 2 Oklahoma: Swept Alabama in Norman Super Regional No. 3 Florida: Beat Georgia in Gainesville Super Regional No. 6 Texas: Beat Clemson in Austin Super Regional No. 7 Tennessee: Beat Nebraska in Knoxville Super Regional No. 9 UCLA: Beat South Carolina in Columbia Super Regional
