Eufaula celebrated the annual sports awards assembly on Monday. The big winners of the night were Jadence Efurd and Dusty Eby. Both seniors contributed to the Ironheads’ basketball programs with Efurd also playing golf, fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball.
Eufaula Alumni president Jeanette Smith and former Eufaula and Oklahoma Sooner great Rusty Griffis announced the winners of the awards in a short speech.
“It’s an honor to be able to be a part of this. Our student body needs to know the history of our school and the athletes that laid the foundation for guys like me, J.C. Watts, the Selmons and Fishers. Junior Golding was an excellent athlete here and at OU but what separates him from most is that he joined the military and served in WWII earning a Silver Star and when the war was over he went back to OU and finished playing football for the Sooners,” Rusty Griffis said.
“Sue Ann Salsman was an exceptional student and athlete here at Eufaula. She was a pioneer in female sports and contributed to Eufaula’s success,” Eufaula Alumni President Jeanette Smith said.
