Randy Rutherford has accepted an offer to become the new boys’ head basketball coach at Claremore. His hiring was approved at the Claremore board’s monthly meeting. He spent the last seven years at McClain.
Rutherford succeeds Tommy Nolan, who last week resigned after 14 Claremore seasons. Claremore was 12-13 this past season.
Rutherford’s 202324 McLain squad had a special season and finished 25-4. For only the second time in 30 years, the Titan program achieved a record of at least 20 wins. He was named the All-World boys basketball coach of the year.
Rutherford was on the Oklahoma State Cowboys basketball team that went to 1995 NCAA Final Four.
