Anticipating future construction projects, the Eufaula School Board last week agreed to a contract with a construction management firm out of Fort Smith, Ark. to oversee the various undertakings.
A planning committee for the district identified several goals, including adding a classroom at the middle and elementary school; a high school event center; expanding the cafeteria at the elementary and high school; new turf for the football field; and remodeling restrooms at the elementary and high schools.
The construction management firm will provide cost estimates on the projects, Superintendent Monty Guthrie said.
Beshears Construction is the general contractor chosen by the board from a number of applicants.
Guthrie said the company comes highly recommended and usually comes in on time and under budget. He said he has not found any negative comments about Beshears.
The Fort Smith company has worked on several projects in Oklahoma, including the recently completed Vian High School. The preliminary budget for the school was $9,013,283. The actual cost was $8,946,758.
