If you are a Christian, then you have a mission!

God wants us to see the whole world as His mission field. So, wherever you go, whether you are standing or sitting, that is your mission field. God’s Mission is the Church’s Great Commission. How do I know this?

Jesus came and told His disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20) The Great Commission is full of verbs: go, make, baptize, teach, and obey. These aren’t static, spectator-type instructions. Jesus asked us to go, and then commissioned us to carry on His message to our families, our friends, our co-workers, and those in our communities.

If you are a follower of Jesus, then Christ the Lord—who is powerful in all authority— gave you a mission. He told His followers to go and make disciples, preach and teach, and obey. For me, that starts with my daughter.

A famous quote says, “Preach the Gospel at all times. Use words if necessary.” What does that mean? It’s often not what I SAY, but what I DO that leads my daughter to see the love of Christ. I don’t always get it right. But my family is my first mission field that God calls me to go into and spread the love of Jesus.

Beyond the mission field of your own family, have you discovered God’s mission for you yet? One place you might look is right here in Eufaula with an organization called God’s Helping Hands. For many years, we at LECC have sent a monthly contribution to help support the organization who helps so many in our community.

Need food? Stop by their headquarters at 600 Border Street, Eufaula, and pick up a basketful to satisfy your hunger. Jacket too thin for cold weather? The group’s clothes closet volunteers will help you find an appropriate, heavier one.

Have no utilities because you couldn’t pay your bill? Here’s where you’ll find the help needed to solve a temporary problem, like an emergency utility need, or prescription and/or medical travel need.

LECC was blessed to have the God’s Helping Hands director, Chaplain Richard McCool speak from our pulpit this past Sunday. If you’re feeling down, needing someone to talk to, he and other caring Christians would love to minister to you— one on one!

McCool said just as most do not feel worthy to spread God’s word, even after 25 years, he himself does not feel worthy of his position. But we must all feel obligated. He quoted 2 Corinthians 5:10: “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive good or evil, according to what he has done in the body since coming to Christ.”

We would be pleased for you to bring yourself and your family to LECC at 415987 Highway 9, Eufaula, to continue learning about fulfilling your mission. We have small group Bible study at 10 a.m., worship at 11 a.m, and Wednesday night activities at 6:30 p.m. In a church family you’ll find joy, hope, love, hugs, and inspiration here–and because of Jesus you’ll also find your mission.

God Bless You!

Jeremy Little, Minister
