Native American Month

The month of November is recognized as Native American Month. Many events will be taking place throughout various communities.

On Nov. 16, a Native American celebration will be held at the Eufaula Indian Community Center, 800 Birkes Rd. This celebration is hosted by the Eufaula-Canadian Tribal Town. It begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m.

It will be an eventful day of Native Arts & Crafts, video presentations featuring The Dawes Commission, Horseshoe Bend, and more. Also, there will be a silent auction.

An elder chair volleyball tournament will begin at 11 a.m., which will include eight community teams in this invitational only event. There will be awarded (3) place and Sportsmanship trophies for the winning teams. For information about the event contact Jon Tiger at (918) 850-3806.

An Indian Taco sale will be held at the EIC Nutrition Center, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost will be $12, which includes a drink.
