Fall is near and old man winter is not far behind; therefore, District 2 is preparing by checking our salt & sand supply. We are also inspecting our, limited, snow and ice removal equipment and making repairs as needed. As mentioned, we are limited to the amount of snow and ice removal equipment we have; therefore, we are limited to the number of areas we are able to effectively treat. We mainly concentrate on main roads, hills and bridges; unfortunately, treating secondary roads and sub-divisions are fourth and fifth on the priority list. We ask that residents be patient, drive safely and inform us of any out of normal conditions and we will come out, look at the situation and see if there is a remedy.
On another note, we recently replaced a 60-inch x 40-foot tinhorn, that was failing, just north of Ogden Corner on Texanna Road.
Texanna Road was closed for approximately six hours so; I want to thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation for using the alternate routes around the construction area.
We will be laying hot asphalt over the new tinhorn when the base covering the horn has settled. Also, on or around Sept. 25, we will be replacing two 36-inch x 40-foot tinhorns on S 4179 Road leading in and out of the Eagle Bluff area. Unfortunately, Eagle Bluff only has one way in and out so, in light of this, a land owner adjacent to the construction area has agreed to allow District 2 to build a flyby/bypass on his property in an attempt to disrupt traffic as little as possible. We will be putting out signs in the area when we firm up the start date. One other point, the construction will be performed between 9:00 am – 3:00 pm in order to accommodate the school buses.
District 2 will continue to move forward as much as our resources will allow.
