Lady Ironheads roll to 13-0 after defeating Morris
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

The Eufaula Lady Ironheads extended their win streak to 13-0 after rolling over Morris 16-3 on Friday. Kate Pippenger led Eufaula at the plate going 4-for-4 with four runs scored and a pair of RBIs.

Eufaula was hot at the plate as senior Jadence Efurd hit a pair of singles that each scored a run. Eufaula scored six runs in the first inning and two in the second inning and sealed the victory in the third with five runs scored.

Everyone got in the action as Leah Green went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, Efurd was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Kadie Jo Tidwell 1-for-2 with an RBI, Maddie Ballard 1-for-2, Hannah Needham 1-for-4 with three RBIs and Jana Hickman went 2-for-4.

Leah Green earned the win from the pitcher’s circle. Green gave up one hit and three runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking six. Eufaula tallied up 16 hits in the game.

“We were a little flat Monday and Tuesday but picked up wins against Okmulgee and Heavener. Thursday we showed up ready to go with effort and excitement and got a great team win against a good Preston team. Defense, pitching and timely hitting all contributed to that win. We found our place on Friday as we hit the ball great in a 16-3 victory over Morris. It was a great team win. Next week, we play Muldrow at home on Tuesday, then host our tournament Thursday through Saturday,” Eufaula head coach Ryan Green said.
