The late Harold Haltom, a lifetime member of Eufaula VFW Post 8798 and a former Post Commander, will have the post’s ballroom named in his honor during a ceremony on July 16.
The event will take place at 6 p.m.
Haltom, 92, passed away on Jan. 29.
He enlisted in the United States Army in 1948 and received many honorable distinctions including two purple hearts, a Bronze Star, the Korean Conflict Medal and numerous other medals.
Haltom retired from the Army in 1972.
He was dedicated to the VFW, serving in many positions with the organization. He spent three years working at the state and national VFW levels, where he worked to expand membership and ensure veterans received the benefits they deserved.
