Dane Mark Jackson, formerly of Eufaula, died on March 11, 2024, in Tulsa. He was 69.
Born May 26, 1954, to David and Dollie Mae (Boatman) Jackson, he grew up in Eufaula. He graduated from Eufaula
High School in 1972 and was salutatorian of his class. He was a drummer in the marching band.
He studied art at Oklahoma State University before taking a summer job at Sequoia National Park, where he made many lifelong friends. He remained in California for several years before moving back to Oklahoma.
Dane was a skilled woodworker like his father. Before retiring, he was assistant manager of Keystone Mill.
His family relied on him to carve the Thanksgiving turkey each year.
He enjoyed hiking, collecting fossils, listening to classical music and spending time with family and friends. He had many rescued cats and dogs over the years.
Dane was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Inez Shropshire Jackson; brother, Barry Jackson, and sisters Kay Stafford and Diane Mahaffey.
Survivors include his sisters Debbie Jackson and Carmita Hedges; nephews Heath Jackson and Danny Mahaffey; nieces Michele Calvert and Shari Tomlin; his dear friend Carla Riedel, his dog Rocket and cat Gustav.
