Library Friends launch membership drive

Look right when you walk through the door from the foyer to the library’s main room, and you’ll see a box for joining the Friends of Eufaula Memorial Library.

The Friends hope to see that box overflow by Thursday, April 11—the date designated for National Library Advocacy.

The Friends have been advocating for the library for many years— once with a much larger membership.

The COVID crisis caused a setback in membership, which has not rebounded to the extent desirable for this size community. The hope is that this membership drive will spark a resurgence.

Among its many contributions, the Friends helped support the summer reading program, the StoryWalk at Eufaula Cove, and the Veterans Memorial brick display. They recently manned a used book sale that raised funds for the library to update its collection.

If you’d like to help the Friends continue to support many regular programs and encourage new ones, all you need to do is put your name and email address on the envelope provided, put $5 for yearly dues in it, and drop it in the box.

You’ll then receive emails keeping you informed of Friends’ happenings, including luncheons with speakers at 11 a.m. the third Friday of each month.

To join or volunteer, you may also contact member.FEML@gmail.com or our President, Gail Rose at (918) 770-2440.
