A Checotah couple who were initially charged with harboring their fugitive son from authorities have pled guilty to the lesser charge of obstructing an officer.
Both were sentenced by Special Judge Brian McLaughlin to 18 months in jail, with the sentences deferred.
Because both are on SSI fixed income, the court waived costs.
Jimmy Lee Burnett, 73, and his wife Pamela Jane Burnett, 65, were charged on Jan. 2 with hiding their son Kevin Burnett, 45, of Checotah, who had a warrant out for his arrest for driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, which is a felony.
Jimmy Burnett entered his guilty plea on March 3. Pamela Burnett pled guilty on March 19.
