Pippenger leads Lady Ironheads to victory over Checotah
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR,

Eufaula junior Kate Pippenger led the Eufaula Lady Ironheads (4-1–

1) to a huge 11-5 victory over rival Checotah. Kate Pippenger was 4-for-

4 with one RBI as she led the Lady Ironheads at the plate. Seniors Avery Williams added three hits and two RBIs and Allie Anderson was 2-for-3 and Kadie Tidwell brought in two runs.

Pippenger singled in the first, third, fourth and sixth innings. Eufaula led 4-0 after the third inning but the Lady Wildcats roared back with runs scored in the fourth to tie the game. The Wildcats continue to be productive as they scored again in the top of the sixth inning to take a 5-4 lead. After a fiery speech by Eufaula head coach Ryan Green, the Lady Ironheads rallied to score seven runs to win the game 11-5.

“It was a tough game. We didn’t take advantage of some of the opportunities we had. I was proud of the way this team responded and the production we got at the plate. We have to limit our errors and play better defensively,” Green said.

Green saw plenty of production as Elaina Monroe singled, scoring a run, Anderson doubled, scoring two runs, Avery Williams doubled, scoring a pair of runs and Gabby Noriega hit into a double play but scored a run.

Kadie Jo Tidwell had a great game both hitting and catching. She singled in the third inning and Rayleigh Peterson walked, each scoring a run.

The highlight for the Checotah Wildcats was when Hailey Prince hit a solo homerun to give the Wildcats a 5-4 lead. Kenadee Jones took the loss for Checotah. She went six innings, giving up 11 runs on 15 hits, striking out one and walking five.

Makayla Harjo earned the victory for Eufaula. She surrendered 11 hits and five runs over seven innings and walked one.

Prince, Shyanne Madewell and Sidney Hamilton each collected multiple hits for Checotah.
