One hurt one killed
At the crossing of Foley Avenue near the Katy Depot Wednesday morning about 3 o’clock, Bert billings and companion, John Hathaway, attempted to board a south bound freight train moving at the rate of twenty mil.es an hour , and the result is one man dead, and the other painfully, though not seriously injured. Both are young men and show evidences of hard workers.
Governor’s Proclamation County Seat
Whereas, pursuant to the decision of the Supreme Court of Oklahoma in cause number two hundred and twenty six (226) Entitled the Incorporated town of Eufaula a municipal corporation vs. Charles Gibson et al, the Supreme Court for the purposes of contesting the result of an election held on the 23rd day of May, 1908 in the County of McIntosh in the state of Oklahoma for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of said county the question of relocating the county seat. C.N. Haskell, Governor of the State of Oklahoma, did on the 3rd day of December, 1908, proclaim and call a special election to be held in the county of Mcintosh on the 10th day of February, 1909 and did further proclaim and order that Checotah and Eufaula, being the two towns having received the greatest number of votes in said election.
Now said Governor of the State of Oklahoma do hereby declare and proclaim that the town of Eufaula, in McIntosh County, State of Oklahoma, did receive the requisite proportion of all votes cast in said election and has been duly and lawfully selected as the permanent County Seat of said county.

First National and Oklahoma State to be merged The First National Bank of Eufaula, of which W.G. Morhart was president, closed its doors here Monday morning, and with the Oklahoma State, that was closed some two weeks ago, is to be merged and a new bank to be known as the Farmers and Merchants Bank of Eufaula,, with a capital and surplus of $60,000, is to be organized.
Whisky sleuth makes big haul in McIntosh County
Five farms west of Eufaula within a radius of two miles were raided by federal officers Tuesday morning and liquor or stills found at each place.
Three men were brought to Muskogee and placed in the federal jail on charges of possession of liquor.

Fire at Mountain View damages school house Mountain View school house, a few miles out from Eufaula came near being destroyed by fire Monday
morning, when sparks from a defective flue set the building on fire. The roof and interior suffered damages.
Pen up your chickens
Beginning March 1, it shall be unlawful for any person or persons, having control of any domestic fowl to permit the same to run at large with the corporate limits of the City of Eufaula.

Two from county die as prisoners of war in Korea Wash Grayson, clerk of the McIntosh County selective service board, was advised today that two men from this county had died as prisoners of the enemy in Korea. They were: Master Sgt. Norman McQueen of Hanna and Corporal Charles Other Williams of Eufaula.

Feb. 27 is the day J.L. McKinney closes out his post office career after seventeen years and four months as postmaster of the Eufaula office.

Bus service opens here on No. 9 Highway The Oklahoma Transportation Company began bus service in Eufaula Monday, March 3, with through buses from San Francisco, California to Atlanta, Georgia on Number 9 Highway, according to R.B. Whitt, a representative of the company. The bus station is located one block north of Intersection 9 and 69, at the service station there.
