The search for a councilman to represent Ward I continues.
Councilman and Vice Mayor Josh Cummings resigned in January to take a position with the Eufaula Police Department.
At Monday’s City Council Meeting, City Manager Jeb Jones said the city is trying to find someone interested in being appointed to the position, but so far now one has come forward.
Jones said if someone should show interest a special meeting probably would be held on Tuesday, Feb. 20 to make the appointment.
Ward I’s district is, basically, from Foley and the railroad tracks east to 2nd Street, over toe Grand, west to the top of the hill at the dormitory and everything south of Grand.
In other business, the city renewed its Vyve Broad Band agreement. The original agreement was made in 2004. The renewal clause adds an additional 20 years, making the agreement good through 2044.
And, Kency Duarte, with Arledge & Associates, the city’s auditors, gave a presentation of the 2022-23 audit. The audit stated the city was in good fiscal shape.
“We had a clean audit,” Jones said.
