Jones signs with

Checotah senior quarterback Jacob Jones signed his letter of intent to play college football at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Jones was named to the Class 3A East All-Star Football team by the Oklahoma Coaches Association. Jones was 152-of-232 passing for 2,317 yards with an impressive 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Jones also ran the ball 49 times for 132 yards and a touchdown. He was also named the 2023 McIntosh County Democrat Co-Offensive Player of the Year. Jones helped to lead the Wildcats to a 7-4 overall record and the first playoff appearance in three years.

Jacob is the son of Boyd and Heather Jones.

“It was great to celebrate this achievement with his teammates, coaches, friends and family. The Wildcat family has been wonderful to be a part of and has been a big part of Jacob’s journey,” Heather Jones said.
