Eufaula Middle School Principal Jeremy Gragg, who has been on administrative leave since an altercation with a student on Nov. 2, will be allowed to return to his job.
When that will happen has not yet been decided.
“We are working on it,” Superintendent Monty Guthrie said following a school board meeting Monday.
After an executive session the board’s five members voted on whether to retain each of the school administrators, which is an annual procedure.
All of the administrators but Gragg received unanimous approval.
Four board members voted in favor of Gragg. Board member Martha Asher voted no.
Gragg had been accused of using excessive force to restrain a student.
Following an investigation by the Eufaula Police Department, the case was turned over to the district attorney, who declined to press charges against Gragg.
At the time of the incident, Gragg was defensive coordinator for the football team as well as middle school principal.
He has since resigned his coach’s position and the school is advertising for a new defensive coordinator with teaching duties.
