It’s time to pull out those famous family chili recipes and see if you have what it takes to win this year’s 16th Annual Checotah Chili Cook-Off set for Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Checotah Community Center.
Entry fee is only $20 and you could walk away with not just bragging rights but cash prizes from $50 to $500 for 1st place.
“This yearly event benefits the Heartland Heritage Museum & Gallery,” said Director Iris Park. “A blind panel of distinguished judges will be looking for the best cooks in the county and judging will begin at 4 p.m. So please prepare a minimum of four quarts of chili prior to the competition and be set up by 3:30 p.m. There will also be a live auction, his and her guns raffled for $1 a ticket or $5 for six tickets, plus a chance to win some great door prizes.”
Doors open at 5 p.m. to the public.
Cost is $8 for all the chili you can eat. Kids from 7-11 years old eat for $6, and 6 & under eat free.
