2023 has been an active year for McIntosh County sports with a lot of positives and a few negatives. We have had Checotah and Eufaula athletic teams compete in multiple state tournaments, new coaches hired, some fired, and athletes that earned scholarships with some competing at the collegiate level. We have experienced our local rodeo talent compete at a higher level and earned big payoffs and we have seen new records in school history take place in 2023.

In addition to the above, we have hosted several fishing tournaments, disc golf tournaments and fundraising 5K runs that have brought recognition to our communities.

We have set a fine foundation for the future and have the ability to make 2024 an even better year for our schools and communities. With on-going good working relationships between our schools and city governments, Eufaula and Checotah will continue to grow and host notable events in an effort to bring more revenue and recognition to our cities, schools, athletes and citizens.
