There were no signs of any concussion to OU quarterback Dillon Gabriel. On his first snap from scrimmage, Gabriel faked a handoff and heaved a deep ball to Nic Anderson for a 50-yard completion. He finished the first three drives with a rushing touchdown and three completions of 50 yards or more. OU earned a 69-45 home win over TCU on Friday. The blowout victory served as a proper sendoff for the Sooners (10-2, 7-2 Big 12), who are set to move to the SEC on July 1, 2024.
The Sooners reached 10 wins for the 42nd time in school history and the 19th time since 2000. They also capped their 59th season with a perfect home record (60). The Sooners defense only allowed 34 yards and three first downs over TCU’s next four drives.
The running game started to get rolling, as Gavin Sawchuk and Tawee Walker combined to score the next three touchdowns. With a 42-13 lead with three minutes remaining in the half. On TCU’s final drive before the half, it marched down the field to set up a 23-yard field goal.
TCU scored touchdowns on all four of its possessions in the third quarter and turned a 43-16 shellacking into a manageable 52-38 deficit. The Horned Frogs had 228 yards of total offense in the third quarter including 104 yards from seven runs. The Sooners finished the game with 607 yards of total offense.
