McAllister/Poirot win Lawler and Associates Bass Tournament
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR,

Two local students won the high school division in the Lawter and Associates Bass Tournament on Lake Eufaula. Nearly 400 boats were on Lake Eufaula over the weekend but only two locals would win the event as Connor McAllister and Josh Poirot placed first with a weight of 13.24.

“As a 17-year-old it is cool to win an event with over 300plus boats, especially on the home lake. I have only been tournament fishing for about a year,” Connor McAllister said.

When asked what he likes about fishing he responded, “Putting the puzzle together and getting those winning bites.”

Hager 10. 9.94 R. Fulks/R. Winsworth “I probably will not fish professionally, but you will definitely find me on a weekend trail. Can’t forget my partner Josh Poirot. It was one of the more fun tournaments I have fished, and the bites weren’t even all that good. We finished hard but having Josh there made the tough bites not so tough,” The junior football player and fisherman Connor McAllister said.

McAllister is the son of State Farm Agent Sean McAllister.
