Q and A with Pastor J.
“The end of all things is near. Therefore, be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.” 1 Peter 4:7.
Peter taught the early Church that time is short. Life can end quickly and tragically, or Jesus could return at any moment. Peter focuses less on how soon and more on how this knowledge should change how we live. This is how Peter teaches us to live..
1) Be ready – Keep a short list of accounts. If you need to make peace with someone, ask forgiveness or correct a mistake – do it today. Tomorrow is not promised. We need to live like Jesus is coming today, every day until He returns.
2) Love deeply – if time is short it should show in your relationships. (v.8) 3) Offer hospitality – open your heart and hearth to others. People will come to your home before they come to your Church. (v.9) 4) Use whatever you have to serve other people. (v.10) 5) Whatever you say or do – say it or do it in such a way that God will be praised. (v.11) If the end comes in 10,000 years or before the end of this sentence, we should be focused on making the best of whatever time we have. Time is short, life is unpredictable. If Jesus comes today I want to be ready.
