McIntosh County has a reputation for producing great cowboys and football players, but you better add baseball to the mix.
Eufaula and Checotah have both sent many baseball players to the many different levels of the sport.
Caleb Knight, Jack Christian, Brock Butler, Daniel Salters, Trevor Walsh, Seth Knight, Hunter Hamilton and Matt and Dylan Helms have been the latest players on the diamond. Players like David Fisher, Stacey Helms, Marty Shoemaker, Eddie Clover, James Martin, Jeff McNealy, John Salters and others laid the foundation decades ago.
Being a native from this county, I realize just how many great athletes have come from here.
You hear the stories, see the photos and you become overwhelmed by the sheer greatness these individuals have accomplished.
Those times continue and we’re proud of them all as Eufaula star pitcher Luke Adcock heads to Seminole State University to play baseball and a congratulations to Zack Mullen of Dewar (formerly of Checotah) for receiving two offers over this week from Connors State College and Murray State University.
1-2-3 break.
