‘Playing’ with the Gospel

One of the most common failures in man’s “attempt” to please God is to take it upon ourselves to legislate for God. The truth of our worship is stated by the Christ in John 4:24, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. “Two things are readily apparent in the Lord’s statement; “must” excludes all failure to follow, “in spirit and in truth: expresses “manner and content” of that exclusive requirement. Spiritual in manner, truth in content, Jn. 4:23 defines who so worship as true worshippers.
