One of Oklahoma’s largest dragonflies is also one of the most widespread. The brightly colored common green darner grows to about three inches in length and can be found in all 77 Oklahoma counties. Though most encountered in spring and fall, this dragonfly has been spotted in every month of the year, especially in years with mild winters. Common green darners may either migrate in large numbers, or remain local residents.
