Remember the movie “Jesus Christ Superstar” from 1973? In one scene, Jesus is approached by dozens of shadowy-looking figures as he walks down the road, all reaching for him as they sing an eerie litany of woes: “See my eyes, I can hardly see. See me stand, I can hardly walk. I believe you can make me whole. See my tongue, I can hardly talk…” They beg Jesus to touch and heal them. At first he tries to respond to each person but he is quickly overwhelmed. He begins to mutter, “There’s too many of you… Don’t push me… There’s not enough of me…” Finally he cries out, “Leave me alone!” as they all close in on him.
